The map in the cover photo just blows my mind. It shows the whereabouts of the people who’s played videos from the Web Rebels conference up on Vimeo. I still can not believe that we’ve hosted this event and I sure as hell can not believe that we didn’t fuck it up :) I am a firm believer in that everything that can go wrong, most definitely will when it comes to these kinds of things. However, nothing did go badly wrong!

The talks have generated both online discussions, blog posts and discussions which we know will even affect the web standard working groups. A lot of the positive reactions have been beyond our wildest expectations.

I never did give much thought as to what might come out of putting on a conference. The only thing I thought about was that we need something better than the comercial “web developer” conferences we have in Oslo today and that was it.

One thing I do hope we have proven is that hosting a conference in Oslo does not mean that you need to pay 10 000 NOK for a ticket. There is no reason what so ever, besides profits of course, why you should charge such a ridiculous amount of money from attendants. Even in one of the most expensive cities on the planet.
